  • 1.  new filebeat version needed

    Posted Mon March 11, 2024 05:39 AM

    Dear team,

we would need a newer version of filebeat.
Is it planned by any chance to update filebeat to a newer release 8.1x ???

The old version has some disadvantages that causes problems in our environment.

    Many thanks in advance.
    kind regards

We had it in the plans. But due to other important works, it is shelved now. It requires significant time & effort to port the new version. We are targeting this in 3Q 2024.

Hi, was there any progress made in Q3 2024 with filebeat? It appears that the AIX toolbox is still only listing filebeat 7.5.2.

    Thanks
    James

    Hi,

    Thanks for checking in.

We have successfully ported version 8.17.1 of Filebeat, Metricbeat, and Auditbeat for AIX.

Currently it is in the testing stage. We are actively working to update beats and finalize the availability as soon as possible.

You can expect it within the next couple of weeks.

    We will keep you updated.

    Hello Aditya,

sorry, I missed your post here. We are nor in the process of updating to AIX 7.3 TL3 and updating all RPM's incl. filebeat and metricbeat.
Until now, all updates worked well. I just had to adjust the init script to start metricbeat and filebeat. As you asked for feedback in the other thread, here is our use case.
    With metricbeat we are collecting:
        - filesystem
        - cpu
        - load
        - memory
        - network
        - process
        - process_summary
        - socket_summary

With filebeat we are sending almost all logs, incl. errpt log into the Elastic Cloud and generate incident tickets for some predefined failures.
In the future, we want to have a kind of AI or machine learning that would decide to open an incitent or not.

    kind regards
