    Usually we build the maps to a specific flat form  based on where the compiled maps will be deployed, right? We have this feature in WTX 8.4 itself.

    Can somebody explain me what exactly means by "A single compiled map can run on multiple platforms".

    In older version, when you compiled a map on Windows, you got a .mmc file.  This compiled map file could only be run on Windows.  To compile for other platforms, you chose the platform from the 'Build for Specific Platform' menu, and got an alternative extension, such as .sun for a compiled map designed for the Sun Solaris platform.

    In ITX 9.0.0.x you can compile a .mmc file to contain the compiled versions for all (or some) platforms:
