I've got good, responsive agent working on this case. The IF you want is:
11.2.4-BA-TR-MP-IF001 Cognos Transformer 11.2.4 Interim Fix 1
It actually has 2 fixes in it:
PH59370: TRANSFORMER DOES NOT APPEAR TO SELECT IN THE LIST OF PRODUCTS TO INSTALL USING INSTALLANYWHERE
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/apar/PH59370
PH59618: TR1007 ERROR WHEN CREATING A SIGNON OR OPENING A MODEL WITH AN EMBEDDED SIGNON
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/apar/PH59618
Assuming you have support with IBM, if you go into Fix Central the IF is publically available. In fact there's also one for 12.0.2 for the same issue, for anyone reading this thread already on 12.
It looks to be good. Like nearly all fixpacks and IF's it's a full install. I installed it to yet a new directory on my Dev server. I've been able to open existing pjy models, run a build and publish and at least get past the database signon when creating a new model with an IQD. Was also able to open the newly built cube with PPS.
I'm planning on closing my support ticket at this point.
BTW, the case agent really did drive the fact that IQDs are deprecated and unsupported and our "mileage will vary" with new releases. Heck even this latest 11.2.4 version of Transformer reports "IBM Cognos Transformer version 10.2.6111.2404" when you launch it from the command-line.
Regarding your comments about the FixPacks, yes, we've had the same issues since 11.0 (we have used Cognos since Decisionstream 7). QA/QC seems minimal, unfortunately. When we are planning to migrate to a new version I get the latest LTS that's available and we do all our testing, open tickets (have ALWAYS had to since 11.0), get the patches/IFs and then that's what we go live on. I never patch because, yes, there are always problems, so it becomes a completely new cycle of testing because often what gets broken is a surprise. The main reason we went to 11.1.7 from 11.1.5 was the Log4j vulnerability. The interim patches for it seemed to break too much other stuff. Additionally we wanted to start exploring DataSets & DataModules and they just didn't work in 11.1.5 - and yes that was after support tickets. Unfortunately the migration to DQM is slow and painful for us and we're still fixing Framework Mgr packages and reports. We suspended that work to move to 11.2.4.
With 11.1 going EOS end of next month, and with what I'm seeing of 12 still being very unstable, we're now looking to go to 11.2.4, which is why I just went with FixPack 3, being the latest and greatest available at this time. From 11.2.4 (assuming we go live in a few months) maybe in a year or so we'll grab whatever is latest and greatest FixPack with 12 and start a whole cycle of testing.
Best of luck everyone!

Subject: new Cognos Transformer 11.2.4 FP3 and IQDs data sources
Hi Wayne - I had actually uninstalled the 11.2.4 FP3 version of Transformer to avoid confusion, but I went ahead and reinstalled it this morning and went through the various configuration steps and updating the "cs7g.ini" file with some db connection info. I then tried creaing a new model (based on an existing IQD) and I did indeed run into that same error (TR1007...) that you noted. Our db's are in SQL.
Just for background, I do my Transformer in my testing/staging environment, where I'd already installed the FP3 versions for content manager and dispatcher. (That part went relatively smoothly, until I went to update to FP3 in Production where I ran into an unrelated issue with my Custom Authentication Provider and some TLS version problems. Still no great solution there).
I know 11.2.4 is a LTS version, but experiences like this encourage me to avoid updating the software unless I have to. Feels like maybe 40-50% of the time some problem comes up that I spend a large amount of time trying to troubleshoot. To wrap up on a positive note, I'm grateful for these community discussion threads!

I can confirm my results are exactly what Mike is experiencing. Exact same version of Cognos - 11.2.4 FP3. IQD Data Sources and we're using Sybase as our target database, thus using the Sybase client SDK.
I try to open up a previous cube model and the GUI hangs for a moment and then just closes. It sounds like they broke something with FixPack 3. It's so frustrating that these kinds of major issues somehow slip through QA/QC testing.
I will open a support ticket as well.
UPDATE: I opened a support ticket and the case agent suggested I try to create a new model. When I try, and select one of my existing IQD files, when it prompts me to logon to the database server I get: "TR1007 An error occurred while a password was being encrypted or decrypted". I actually had not yet installed the 11.1.7.6 version of Transformer on this new Dev server (went straight to live with the Prod server when we migrated to 11.1.7.6). So I did that and configured it the same and it works just fine opening the older models as well as creating a new model and logs into the database just fine when prompted.
Mike, are you able to create a new model? I'm curious if you get the same error logging on to your database. Our target database is Sybase, what is yours?
UPDATE #2: When I gave the agent this new error message he also mentioned the APAR that Trevor linked to earlier in this thread. The agent said there is an interim fix available and is going to give me access to it. I'll let everyone know how that goes.

Hello, I experienced problems in Transformer when upgrading Cognos from 11.2.4 FP2 to FP3. For me, opening the updated Transformer version, I would try to open my previously saved cube models (we use IQDs as data sources), and the Transformer interface would open, but after I select a cube the GUI is not responsive and then it "crashes" giving no error message. I did open a ticket with IBM and we tried a couple quick fixes (e.g. deleting the "temp" directory) but we didn't come up with a solution. I had other more pressing issues to solve so I resorted to staying on the FP2 version.

Subject: new Cognos Transformer 11.2.4 FP3 and IQDs data sources
Hello everyone,
Is there anyone there having issues with the new Cognos Transformer FP3 and the IQDs data sources?
It seems to be a new release of the Transformer tool and some important changes have been introduced (Dispatcher URI for external applications for exemple) and some other changes. And as far as nothing has been changed for decades on this tool, I'm getting worried of it.
I'm getting some old errors (TR1102,TR1108, TR0825)and I applied some of the solutions I found over internet but nothing allow me to work with this new version. Everything works perfect on 11.1.7 by the way.
Has someone tested and worked with this new FP3 Transformer version and the IQDs files ?
