MSSQL DB-Cluster or virtual IP based integration

  • 1.  MSSQL DB-Cluster or virtual IP based integration

    Posted Mon April 12, 2021 02:01 AM
    Hi Everyone,

One of my customer has two MSSQL servers running on windows and configured cluster mode. DB users login to the MSSQL servers through Virutual IP as I shown below. So my question here is how should i integrate db to collector for monitoring data.
Should I install GIM and STAP in both db's?
If db is connecting through virtual IP as sql server IP, how collector will monitor the data?
Could anyone suggest how to proceed on it?

    Thanks,
    Panendar Rao.C

    Hi Phanendra,
You have to install GIM and STAP on both database servers.
In the STAP settings, there's a WINSTAP_ALTERNATE_IPS option, enter the virtual IP address here in the STAP config for both of the DB servers.
When setting up your activity reports or rules for this cluster, you may want to utilize a group of IP addresses including all 3 addresses (DB1, DB2 and virtual IP)

    Regards
