Starting version 8.1 Msg_Mgr began using a map called 'map_trigger' to create a file that initiates the 'export' map. The export map reads the file and deletes it without apparently doing anything with its date+time data.

Does anyone know what the benefit is of moving the 'TimeEvent' option from the export map to a totally separate map?

We've made this our standard method when using time-triggers, as it makes rerunning the called map much simpler - just create the trigger file manually.

We run the export every 4 hours every day but Sunday. With the ability to run the map more frequently via cmd server, that TMGR is running as its own compound system which can be restarted as needed and because dropping a file on the related production server would require involving several people/depts (not all of whom are very expedient) and forms it doesn't seem to provide any real benefit for us.

    Thanks, that was helpfull.
