    I have been reading about MQ , and watching YouTube videos about MQ clusters. My question is can there be a cluster between MQ on z/OS and a server running MQ. Everything I have seen only mentions Clusters on mainframe with Q Managers on the mainframe I have not seen a cluster from mainframe and a server. Did I miss something ? Thanks

    Yes, you can cluster together queue managers on all platforms, z/OS and non-z/OS.

    As Morag says, this is a totally valid configuration. In fact it's a very common configuration. In addition to mixing all platforms in a single cluster it's also possible to mix different versions of MQ across those queue managers, allowing you to build truly heterogeneous MQ networks spanning all types of environment.

    Yes, you can certainly have MQ Clusters that are "heterogeneous", that is to say mixed platform types.  The MQ Cluster can have a mix of all platform types (z/OS, Windows, Linux, etc.).  Having said that, one would TYPICALLY choose the most reliable platform to house the MQ Cluster Full Repositories (and you'll want a minimum of 2).  And if you're using MQ Clusters to distribute messages amongst multiple copies of a given queue, it would be likely that those queues that are copied (with their servicing applications) are of a similar architecture, but this certainly isn't an MQ requirement.

    ​MQ on z/OS can be a so-called partial repository (i.e. cluster member) or a full repository in MQ clusters just like any other MQ platform. There is no difference in function.
