Not much of an announcement letter is it?

Is that the only announcement that IBM has made about this? Usually there is an ACTUAL announcement letter.

At least the lifecycle page has now been updated.

I wondered about the lack of a formal announcement letter.  My hypothesis, entirely my own and based on no evidence, is that this announcement was rushed to conform to the "two year" notice period.  Perhaps we'll see a formal announcement letter to follow?

Over recent years, announcement letters for End of Marketing and End of Support have almost always been in this format - multiple products sharing an EOS announcement letter. There is nothing more to add. We have set a date, 2 years in the future. The IBM guidance is for a minimum of 12 months notice, but I wanted to provide additional time for customers to plan for EOS of V8 so I put out this announcement now. Also note that we could have done EOS in 2019, based on 5 years support, but again I wanted to provide additional time for customers to migrate forwards.

When you say "this format", what you describe doesn't match what I see in the link in Glen's post. It's but 2 lines on a support page. If you have a link to an ACTUAL announcement letter can you post it here too?
