Move Device out of a device group, Unassign a user, Change Policy

  • 1.  Move Device out of a device group, Unassign a user, Change Policy

    Hello,

I am having a difficult time in the MaaS360 portal.
I am trying to do 3 simple tasks.

    • Move an iPad Device out of a device group and into another
    • Unassign a user
    • Change a Policy from the highest restrictions to no restrictions
I have put in multiple tickets on this and still cannot find a succinct, step-by-step for any of these steps as described.
Can anyone possibly assist with this?

    Thanks,
    Carmine

    Hi Carmine
Here are some solutions which might help.  If there is anything in my responses below that leads you to think our product can have new features which could help, feel free to raise a request on the IBM Ideas platform (ideas.ibm.com).
    1. 'Move' device across groups
While there is no visual drag-and-drop feature, you can easily re-define a device group to include a specific device by adding the device ID or serial number into the device group definition.
    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/maas360?topic=portal-creating-device-group-from-advanced-search-results
    2. A UEM enrollment is tied to a specific user and this cannot be modified. To move a device to a different user you need to unenroll and re-enroll it.
Alternatively you could set the device up as shared and the specific user can log in as required.
For iOS devices see this document: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/SS8H2S/com.ibm.mc.doc/pag_source/tasks/asm_supporting_apple_shared_device.htm
    For Android: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/new-user-less-enrollment-android-enterprise-shared-devices
    3. Changing policy from highest restrictions to no restrictions
This involves disabling the settings you have configured in the policy. You might want to test this first by 'cloning' the policy.

    Hope this is helpful.
