I need to read the data (JFS) but we dont have another AIX machine ?

Can the disk be mounted on a Linux machine?

    When I type: fdisk /dev/sdc
"There is a valid AIX label on this disk
Unfortunately Linux cannot handle these disks at the moment...."

Do I have some hope ?

    Thank you!

Yes AIX and Linux have a filesystem called JFS but that are NOT the same.

The AIX JFS2 and Linux JFS have some common ancestor back 10 years or so.

Hope this helps you save some time.

Given its AIX 4.1 this is a truely ancient machine.
I hope you have back ups becauce there is going to b little chance of reading the disk unless you can get it going again or have friends with similar ancoient kit,
