  • 1.  Modeler will not launch: License error

    I just resubscribed to SPSS Modeler and the program will not open. I get this error message: 

    License verification failed. Ensure you have Internet access and click Retry.

    If you already have Internet access, the SPSS License Server may need to be allowlisted from
    your corporate firewall. Refer to your firewall documentation or contact your system administrator   
    and add the following URL to allowlist: https://spsssub.ibm.com/licsrv. For other cases, please
    refer to this link for more information.

    I get the same error on my Lenovo running Windows 11 and on my server running Windows 10. I get it after I shut off my firewall. My antivirus product, BitDefender, does not notify me that anything was blocked. I put in a support ticket and they told me to come ask you all. 

    anyone have this? How did you fix it?

    Hello Marianne,

    I solved this for a group of students in a recent guest lecture by using the ibmidlic.jar from SPSS Statistics as shown in this example:

    I know, the fix is for Statistics, but it worked for all students on Modeler, both Mac and Windows.

     When I finally got through to the right IBM technician, he told me to install a patch. This is a known issue.
