It's really tough to know that since mksysb images can be customized and they do not backup things like paging space or dumps. Also, a mksysb file for NIM and a mksysb image on a tape may be different because the tape can use it's own compression and a file uses compressed backup.
I think the best thing to do is create a mksysb image and then see the size.
