    For AIX 6.1 the minimum requirement is a POWER4 system. A base installation of AIX 6.1 is fairly small so in theory even a 9G disk should do, but not really recomended. Get at least a 36G or better a 72G system disk. For memory I would say 1GB, but more is always better of course.

    I know less about AIX 5.3, but I do think it has support for older systems like POWER3, etc.
