    Hi,

How to migrate  entire reports from 10.2.2 to Cognos 11 version.
Select entire content store from 10.2.2 to 11 version any impact on existing reports on 11 version.

    Regards,
    Muralidhar

    Hello Muralidhar,

IBM Cognos Analytics 11 was released in 2018. At that time we wanted all customers to know that there would be "no report left behind". Since that time IBM have made improvements in the handling of legacy reports so I expect that your content store export option will be fine.

As part of the upgrade you may take the opportunity to leverage new functionality (like dynamic query mode), which may require package or report alterations. But this is not a necessity.

Overall it is up to you what you want to achieve from the upgrade project. Moving your content store like for like will most probably work just fine. Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.2 was good, but Cognos Analytics is great. Take a copy of your content store and point Cognos Analytics at it, or import your entire content store into Cognos Analytics. Both should work just fine.

Thank you Peterson for your update.

I have query on below point.

importing entire 10.2.2 content store  into Cognos Analytics 11 version is it fine. It will not override 10.2.2 content sore on 11 version content sore. Not impact on existing reports.

    Hello,

I hope I understand your question correctly.

You have Cognos Analytics (CA) version 11 running and have some reports in there.

You want to bring in Cognos 10.2.2 content. If you bring in an entire content store export into your CA 11 environment, it will overwrite any reports you have in that location. You will lose any reports in CA if you do a full content store import from 10.2.2.

I might suggest you export anything you want to keep from CA 11 into an export file (not a full content store export). Import the full content store from Cognos 10.2.2. Then import the reports you exported from CA 11 and use the selection options on import to choose what you want to do when there is a conflict (existing report). Or import to an alternate location and move the reports as required.

Deployment Conflict Resolution Rules When Importing and Exporting (ibm.com)

Creating a new import deployment specification (ibm.com)

This is not uncommon when refreshing prior to upgrade whilst saving some of the fixes you have already implemented into Cognos Analytics.

We migrated from 10.2.2 to 11.1.2 two years ago. We brought over our Content Store and Audit Store without issue. All reports, user permissions transferred to the new environment smoothly. We also updated our environment to DQM which involves updating database connections to use JDBC and updating every Framework Manager package. The hardest part of the project was end user training.

Three months ago we did upgrade from 11.1.2 to 11.1.7 FP1. This was also smooth but we did encounter a few issues. One being the introduction (to our environment) of Alt. Subject Name in Cognos Configuration. Another would be a report change where some of the query subject joins (within the report studio) from inner join to outer join. While small, some users had noticed the difference.
