Migration AIX 5.1 applications to AIX 5.2 on different servers

    Look, we will NOT be able to do any kind of OS upgrade from 5.1 to 5.2. We have two different servers and we want to migrate our application from AIX 5.1 to 5.2.

    In this case, what should we do?
    More one question: Could I downgrade from 5.2.10 to 5.2.8?

    In second case, You can try for test purpose and install your old application on IBM p520 - 9131-52a. Now upgrade this application (new version which runs on AIX 5.2).
    Do take backups of both machines or alt_disk install to reduce downtime.

    Another thing you can try is, if you are having your application in different vg on RS/6000 SP, using save vg you can backup your application vg and import to AIX 5.2 machine.

    You can downgrade 5.2.10 - 5.2.8, provided you have your 5.2.8 Fix pack in "Applied Mode", so later you can reject the applied state by "smitty maintainance >> Reject Applied Software Updates"
    or you need to restore 5.2.8 backup.
