    1. mkvg -y testvg -s 4 -f hdisk4

    0516-1208 mkvg: Warning, The Physical Partition Size of 4 requires the
    creation of 17501 partitions for hdisk4. The system limitation is
    16256
    physical partitions per disk at a factor value of 16. Specify a larger
    Physical Partition Size or a larger factor value in order create a
    volume group on this disk.
    0516-862 mkvg: Unable to create volume group.

    My question is, where did the "17501" come from?

    you have to big disk for 4 MB PP, even with factor 16.

    Maybe 17501*4=70004 MB is the available space after create the VG. As the max PP per disk is 16256, you must specify p.e. PP size=8.
