Hi,

I have two files from two different years that I want to merge.The variables are "id"; "year of birth" and monthly variables (different for each year). 

Most cases are common, but there are some cases that are in one file but not in the other.

When I use the MATCH FILE BY id command, the years of birth of the cases that are not in the first file appear as missing values. Is there any MATCH subcommand I can use to not lose those cases?

You sound like you may be trying to do a 'one to one' merge but your data do not fit that profile.
