The mgmtconsole.properties file in the product installation directory (on Windows*) will either be created or updated with values such as these:

frame.location.x=164
connection.retry=0
divider.location=255
frame.height=442
tracelog.config=0
frame.width=986
frame.location.y=215

.....and if your choices are not being saved, then I suggest that you do not have permissions to change (or create) that file.

*(On Unix, I believe this file will be in the config sub-directory)

Yes, actually, I have tried editing the file manually. I saved it, closed it, reopened it to verify the changes were still there, but once I launch Management Console, the setting revert back. It is odd, but something I can certainly deal with. If this is the worst thing I have to deal with in my day, then I would consider myself quite lucky indeed!

I recommend you search the machine for another version of this file, possibly in the user profile area C:\Users\{username}.  My guess is, that there is a copy here, and it is used in higher priority than the one in the application directory.
