I have one query, where I want to make Item level property in segment as optional from mandatory to process or validation as input in webMethods.

For e.g, My input is EDI x12 format and I want to make DTM 01 item as optional to process instead of mandatory…Usually in my previous tool (IBM WTX) we set the Item property inside the segment for Min-Max occurrence as 0:1 which makes that particular item as an optional… Is there any such setting in webMethods too?

Hi Gaurav,

I dont think that modifying predefined document types is a good practice.

Please elaborate why it is neccessary to process a mandatory field as optional.
