Hi I'm getting this with lzip on AIX 7.1 (Yum) w lzip 1.21.1

    [mmetts@crcoacs1 2006]$ lzip -9 ehd_5p0-20061225.out
ehd_5p0-20061225.out: Not enough memory. Try a smaller dictionary size.
lzip: Deleting output file 'ehd_5p0-20061225.out.lz', if it exists.

...which kind of doesn't make sense to me either way one looks at it.  Can you please update and fix lzip and add the lzlib and plzip packages?

    Thanks,
    Mike

lzip is not yet made available in AIX Toolbox.
Probably you might have installed it from some other source.

You can set the ulimit values of memory & data to unlimited and try again.
