I have an odd problem. I have an LPAR defined with virtual FC adapters and I'd like to install AIX on a storage LUN presented to the AIX. I have the FC mapping defined in VIOS (actually in both VIOS, as this is a dual vios config).
The virtual FC WWNs appear one by one on the SAN switch, when I use the SAN Zoning support in SMS. I created the necessary aliases and zones related to the virtual FC WWNs and I also have the V7000 port aliases defined.

I created a zone for each virtual FC adapter to connect to the V7000. I also defined the host on the V7000 with all WWNs presented previously on the SAN switch and created a host mapping for the installation disk.

When I try to install, the LPAR cannot see any disks. Checking the SAN, I am able to fcping the virtual FC port (logged in using the SAN Zoning support in SMS) from all of the storage FC ports and the fcping zonecheck shows that the two are zoned. (by the way, I'm using soft zoning)

I have other LPARs on the system that do not exhibit this behavior.

Could you give me any hints on what else to check?

    Regards,

    Imre

    Thanks anyway.
