If I try to create new vg on hdisk0 it gives an error that
    1. mkvg -y vg1 hdisk0

another volume group. Use the force option to add this physical volume

I know that I can use

    #mkvg -f -y vg1 hdisk0

to create new volume group. But I am curious whether there was something on that disk before. Is there a way to find that? I am not sure if I can use importvg as I never exported that vg before.

lsvg shows only rootvg as its volume group. Any ideas?

If you can than boot that system in maintenance mode , either from cd or NIM (It has to be same level or higher oslevel than existing ), than select option boot without mounting filesystem, you can list lv's there. verify if you have hd2,hd5,hd9var or other data lv's which you are aware of.

    lqueryvg -At -p hdisk0

    similar to readvgda but concise.

    1. varyoffvg vgname
    2. exportvg vgname

so that returns to the normal position
