Not exactly the same - we have a 14 period fiscal calendar. It isn't unusual for companies to have fiscal calendars that looks completely different to the monthly calendar. Which is why on every BI project I have ever worked on, regardless of the calendar complexity, I have always treated time like any other dimension and built a dimension table for it. Having a specific table means a company can have whatever calendar they want, with whatever alternative hierarchies they want. I have never understood why people don;t just build a calendar table. After all, what other dimension can you guarantee the number of entries you will have, and 10 years of data would only ever be 3,650 rows! And yet BI tools still try and build calendars for people. Crazy!
Having a table means that its used just like any other dimension. The only special thing about time is that people often want relativity to today in it. And that can all be handled in the table itself.

Subject: Looking for Examples of Custom Fiscal Calendars in Data Modules
Hi Cognos Experts!
I'm reaching out to see if anyone has implemented a custom fiscal calendar within a Data Module that aligns with or is similar to the structure provided below that integrates seamlessly with reporting. If you have experience with this, I'd appreciate it if you reach out to me at shaveta.srivastava@ca.ibm.com.
Fiscal Year
Accounting Period (13 periods per Fiscal Year; accounting periods 2-12 have 28 and accounting periods 1 and 13 are variable)
Fiscal Period (2 Fiscal Periods per Accounting period and 27 fiscal periods in a Fiscal Year)
Date (365 calendar dates in a fiscal year; 14 calendar dates in a fiscal period; variable dates in an accounting period where accounting periods 2-12 have 28 and accounting periods 1 and 13 are variable)
Thanks,
Shaveta
