Not sure about Q1 though. We didn't have to pay any extra for a dual core processor.

Maybe I don't understand multicore processors but the IBM site is pretty explicit on the fact that IBM middleware software is licensed per core. Since Processor Value Units (PVUs) are rated per core, the number of cores used will determine the number of PVUs to be licensed to run a given application. The links below may explain it better.

One thing that changed when IBM took it over from Ascential was the way that development and production licenses were charged. Ascential gave a large discount for development licenses but IBM charge the same for development and production so we went from 4 development and 2 production licenses to 6 to be used anywhere.
