    I will taking over primary responsibility for MQ support and there may a need for added features in MQ Advanced, is there a easy way to tell what we are currently licensed for say MQ server or MQ advanced?

    Thanks.

    What you are currently licensed for and what is currently installed might be different ;-)  The best way is to ask your IBM business partner or IBM representative to check for you.

    Hello,
    Actually there are two aspects to this question:
    - what licenses my company has purchased
    - which edition of MQ is installed on my machines

    For the first point, you have to ask the IBM license provider.

    For the second point, the easiest way is to look at what packages / options are installed.
    In the installation files provided by IBM, all the packages are present, including those that require an MQ Advanced license. It is possible that packages requiring MQ Advanced are installed by mistake.

    How to see if MQ Advanced packages are installed?
    Under Linux you should look for packages like :
    - MQSeriesAMS* --> AMS
    - MQSeriesFT* --> MFT
    - MQSeriesRDQM* --> RDQM

    These packages require an MQ Advanced license.

    Hi,

    Further to Luc-Michel's reply, on distributed platforms from version 9.1.4 it is also possible for you to use the dspmqinst command to determine what entitlement is required for the components that you have installed. For example:

    InstName:      Installation1
    InstDesc:      My installation
    Identifier:    1
    InstPath:      /opt/mqm
    Version:       9.1.4.0
    Primary:       No
    State:         Available
    License:       Production
    Entitlement:   IBM MQ Advanced

    See the documenation for dspmqinst at https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ibm-mq/9.1?topic=reference-dspmqinst-display-mq-installation

    You can also find information about MQ licenses in the product documentation, including which components require MQ Advanced entitlement. For example, for MQ 9.1 see https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ibm-mq/9.1?topic=mq-license-information
