  • 1.  Language and regional settings

    Hi All

Is it possible to distinguish between language and regional settings like data formats in PAW?
In other words, is it possible to let PAW use the windows (regional setting) data formats for numbers?

Why am I asking for this?
By default, most desktops in Iceland are in English but the regional data format is European, using the Comma "," (##.##0,00) for decimal and dd.MM.yyyy for the date. Sadly, most browsers do not distinguish between language and region, only offering the language setting. In my case, by default, the PAW displays the US data format for numbers (##,##0.00) which then does not match the regional format on my desktop. This means that it is impossible for example to copy and paste data between PAW and Excel. I am then forced to set the browser to the Icelandic language for this purpose. Our company policy is to have all written communication in English but the regional data format should not change regardless of the language.

The image below shows my default windows language and regional settings.

I am happy to tell you that I may have found a solution.

In the browser settings (both Edge and Chrome), the language set at the top will affect the regional data, e.g., for displaying numbers. Other languages can be set explicitly as the system language for the browser.

Below are settings examples both for Edge and Chrome.

    edge://settings/languages

    chrome://settings/languages

Same issue there, I would like to able to set that manually like it's the case today in Cognos Analytics. The one I've found is the set the locale to "English (South Africa)", it sets everything to English with the European number format
