I added a KPI widget into a report in R12. When doing the comparison between the primary and secondary values, Apptio defaults to the Percentage Variance. I want it to show the difference in DOLLARS. Anyone know how to change that?

    Hello Kyle,

Apptio can only display variance between Primary and Secondary values in percentage terms.

    I have an idea.

    1. You could create a Metric , where = Primary - Secondary, set the Metric format as Dollars

    2. Create a HTML box and include this Metric in that, and position it in such a way that it resides in the place where the Tertiary value ( Comparison between Primary and Secondary) would have appeared. It would look less prettier than how the Tertiary value would appear, but i think it should get the job done.

I currently have HTML boxes, but since the switch to R12 a few months back, they are SUPER buggy and half the time don't work with slicers and stuff. It's causing a whole lot of confusion. Hence why I went with the out-of-the-box version but i've lost a lot of reporting info.

    Hi Kyle,

In my experience, one of the reasons why slicers don't always tend to work as expected is because of the fact that some slicers may be located in Group Boxes, and whichever component does not fall under the purview of that group box, the slicer may not work with them. Also, I do agree with you, I've noticed that sometimes the Data in HTML box appears, sometimes it doesn't

In fact, I'm interested to know if you have a plan to modify the OOTB report to allign with what you had earlier in R11.

    Hello Varghese,

can you give me an example for your second point --> "Create a HTML box and include this Metric"?

    Hi Niklas,

This is what I was talking about. Let me know if it makes sense. :-)

    HTML options
