  • 1.  KPI for Last 12 Months

    Posted Mon March 18, 2019 02:40 PM

Does anyone know if I can create a report KPI that shows the number for the last 12 months. I know I can do it in tables and charts, but can't see anything in the KPI widget.

    Hi Jeremy,

Can you provide more details on what does the number represent? An example?

    Regards

    Suresh

    Suresh,

Usually, the KPIs display metrics for the selected period, but I would like to show the sum of Cost and a custom modeled metric for the last 12 months respectively in two KPIs. I can do it in a table with the 'LTM' formulas, but can't figure out how to do it in the KPI widget.

    Regards,

    Jeremy

    Hi Jeremy,

You are right. You do not get an option in the KPI directly. The way to do it is through the Table.

Once you have the LTM Cost in the Table, publish it to a Perspective and then use the new published field from the perspective into the KPI.

    Will work for sure.

Have you noticed the LTM function not summing properly?  We've had an example or two of where we export the data and it sums differently.  Wondering if anyone else had this issue?

From my experience the default LTM time setting appears to use the previous 12 months instead of the "trailing 12 months".

Example: If Current Period is December FY20

LTM shows DecFY19 to NovFY20 instead of JanFY20 to DecFY20

To get around this we built the metric manually using TimePeriod(0,X)+TimePeriod(-1,X) ... +TimePeriod(-11,X)
