    Hi Rick,
    I suspect that the Kendall's tau-b is operable in SPSS (along with Pearson's r and Spearman's rho for bivariate correlations) because it corrects for ties, whereas the approach for Kendall's tau-a of (C - D / C + D) does not handle ties well. Can you please confirm this or correct me?

    Right. Kendall's tau "a" does not take ties into consideration, while tau "b" does.
