The IBM Spectrum Scale CSI Operator runs within a Kubernetes cluster providing a means to deploy and manage the CSI plugin for spectrum scale.

Container Storage Interface (CSI) is a standard for exposing arbitrary block and file storage systems to containerized workloads on Container Orchestration Systems (COs) like Kubernetes. The IBM Spectrum Scale Container Storage Interface driver specification is defined at https://github.com/container-storage-interface/spec/blob/master/spec.md.

IBM Spectrum Scale Container Storage Interface driver allows IBM Spectrum Scale to be used as a persistent storage for stateful application running in Kubernetes clusters. Through the IBM Spectrum Scale Container Storage Interface driver, Kubernetes persistent volumes (PVs) can be provisioned from IBM Spectrum Scale. Thus, the containers can be used with stateful microservices like MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and so on.

One of the most important aspects of configuring and managing storage for Kubernetes clusters is the CSI Operator.
IBM has published a CSI Operator for IBM Spectrum Scale at:

IBM over the past few years has made the most powerful file system that is powering the worlds fastest supercomputers simpleR to manage and configure.  We can now deploy software on the edge, in the core data center and in the public cloud,  This also includes storage for Kubernetes clusters, Red Hat OpenShift platform and containers.  Continue watching as we share a growing vision for containers and helping customers on their Journey to AI and the hybrid cloud data center.

    Such a great feature...
Does IBM CSI act like a kubernetes operator?
    no GitHub page?

    Hi Masoud,

yes, the IBM Storage CSI drivers are controlled by Operators.
Please find the links to the source code here:

Cross-Post from Storage for Red Hat OpenShift Topic: Reply here or there.

Containers are the must-have packaging unit for AI workloads. NVIDIA provides containerized solvers and sometimes tuned applications via their NGC libraries. These are supported on both Red Hat OpenShift and Ubuntu based distro.   (Accelerate AI with NVIDIA and Red Hat  https://www.openshift.com/learn/partners/nvidia

With the release of IBM Spectrum Scale Container Native in the Fall, and the latest DGX A-100 Reference Architecture, we are also in the process of updating the "Deployment and Usage Guide for Running AI Workloads on Red Hat OpenShift and NVIDIA DGX Systems with IBM Spectrum Scale"  Our test bed is the DGX A-100 system, but this could also apply to any GPU based system with a capable NVIDIA GPU.

Are there any requests for scenarios or use cases we should highlight?
