Issues with MS EDGE

  • 1.  Issues with MS EDGE

    Hi,  We are transitioning from IE to MS EDGE, but we are experiencing some missing functionality.  Our cubes have selection button (dropdown, etc), but when we run the cubes in MS EDGE those dropdown selection are all missing.  Does anyone have solution on this issue.  Thank you in advance for your help.

    Dear Leon,
    which studio are we talking about? Dashboards, Report Studio or maybe Analysis Studio and from which CA version? Depending on which product you use exactly, some limitations apply - you can always check the comments on the supported software site from IBM.

    Hi Leon,

    I had a similar issue the other day. Make sure that 'Run with full interactivity' is switched off, that solved my issue. Also if you have lots of legacy content created by the users in Analysis Studio, a short term solution to allow them to edit their report would be to use firefox as that allows you to use Analysis Studio under other applications.

    hi Eric,

    Did tried to look for that option 'Run with full interactivity' but I can't find it.  Anyway,  our analysis studio is the one that are having this issue (please see below)
    this is how it is now in MS EDGE.

    This is how it look should look like which in IE works fine.

    If it would help we are using cognos analytics 11.1 R5.

    Hi Leon,
    which version of MS Edge are you using? Is it the old one or the Chromium-baed one?
    Regardless which one you are using, officially none of them is supported for Analysis  Studio:
    We are also a big fan of Analysis Studio and therefore we have to use Firefox ESR to be able to still use it. Might be an option fpr yiu too. Otherwisse you can ask your administrator if they can activate the IE-mode in the new MS Edge for you. I don't know if this works with Cognos Analysis Studio but might be worth a try.

    We are using Edge in Internet Explorer mode for PowerPlay Studio.

    we still use analysis studio because of its ease of use and due to the huge number of reports we have to change (I am grateful for all suggestions!) , but we are now facing the problem that internet explorer will be uninstalled within our company network by the middle of the year.
    a possible solution would be to use the edge browser in compatibility mode.

    are there "any" negative side effects that need to be considered?

    furthermore i noticed that analysis studio actually works in the standard ms edge mode (CA 11.1.7).

    why is this actively prevented by ibm?

    Hi Gernot,

    I tried AS once with Chrome and it worked fine too. Don't know why IBM blocks the CA portal from accessing AS when using Edge or Chrome. I tried the IE-mode a few months ago and it's no real solution as internally when running an websie in IE-mode the Edge just uses the iexplorer.exe tun render the page. So it's still Internet Explorer that just runs in background. If your IT uninstalls it, I have no clue if the IE-mode will still work.

    We are also a customer who uses Analysis Studio en masse. We are stuck with Mozilla Firefox as this is the only browser who delivers good peformance + compatibility.

    I'm guessing you're using Cognos Analytics 11.2 there, Patrick? I think IE Mode in Edge would work in older versions.

    Hi Leon,

    You could try these alternatives in Edge (Chromium) or Chrome:
    1. open an analysis in HTML, then on the right upper hand click the small cube (analysis studio) icon
    2. go to the explore/explore.htm page in your Cognos ennvironment https://mycognosserver/mycognossite/explore/explore.htm,  and select the cube package

    Dear All!

    Thx for all the replies!

    I have tested ca11.1.7 and ca11.2.1 in our environment with Firefox, Edge and Chrome in the last few days.
    Analysis Studio still works with all 3 browsers, the call is a bit difficult with Edge and Chrome...
    As Marc described, the call in Edge and Chrome is only possible via https://mycognosserver/mycognossite/explore/explore.htm.
    Nevertheless the saving in the portal works!
