  • 1.  Issue with S-TAP visibility in STAP Control on SQL Server

    Posted 02/01/26 01:55 AM

    Dear IBM Guardium Support Team,

I would like to report an issue regarding the installation of GIM and S-TAP agents on a win Microsoft SQL Server database.

The GIM agent has been installed successfully and is working as expected. The S-TAP agent is also installed on the SQL Server host; however, it is not displayed in the STAP Control section of Guardium.

To assist with troubleshooting, I have already collected and reviewed the following logs:

    • stapctl logs

      stapctl
    • services logs

      service
    • setup by client logs

    setup client
    • Gim event

    gim event

Despite these checks, the reason why the S-TAP is not correctly recognized or displayed in STAP Control is still unclear to me.

I would appreciate it if you could kindly review this issue and guide me on the possible cause and resolution.

Thank you very much for your support.

    Best regards,
    Milad Baousi

    Hi @milad baousi,

Could you please try with a supported version? We currently support V11.5 and V12.x.

    Hi Satoshi,

    Thank you for your response.

I need to update Guardium to a supported version (11.5 or 12.x), but I currently cannot upload the update files to the appliance because our fileserver is not functioning correctly and we cannot transfer the update ISO files onto the Guardium server reliably.

Before proceeding, I wanted to ask if there is an OVF/OVA virtual appliance image available for IBM Guardium that I could use for a quick installation (for example deploying via VMware or another hypervisor) instead of the standard ISO upgrade process.
If such a virtual appliance image exists, could you please provide a link to download it or point me to where it is available?

Unfortunately, my support entitlement has expired, so I am unable to download the update files from IBM myself.

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

    Hi Milad,

Now I understand that you have to upgrade your appliances first. Hope a specialist of appliances could help you, or you may want to open a ticket to clearly ask for help as an appliance upgrade issue.

    Hi,

Could you please confirm whether this issue requires opening a support ticket?

If so, I would appreciate it if you could share the appropriate link or instructions for contacting support regarding the appliance upgrade.

    Thank you.
    Best regards,
    Milad

    Hi Milad,

I'm a Windows S-TAP engineer and don't have an answer to your last question.
Please consult with your sales representative about your support contract and the way to open a support ticket.

    Thanks,
    Satoshi
