How is your organisation using the recommendations in AWS Trusted Advisor?

Is it true that the AWS Trusted Advisor only looks at CPU usage and doesn't take memory usage into account? If true, how does that affect your results / actions?

Apptio leverages the AWS Trusted Advisor report to build out the cost savings recommendations reporting. While I am uncertain if AWS Trusted Advisor does include memory in the reporting, there has been a shift with the cloud reporting in Apptio to utilise the AWS Cost & USage Report (AWS Cost & Usage Report ). This is part of the recent Version 12.6 release of Apptio.

Thanks for the reply Mark - interesting to see that Apptio is moving to the Cost & Usage report. Will definitely check this out.

The context for my question is that our organisation is currently looking at optimising our Cloud spend but our Cloud service owner has stated that the AWS Trusted Advisor recommendations are not a reliable source on insights since they don't include memory usage as part of their analysis.

So I was hoping to see if other customers have the same concerns or if they have been able to act on the recommendations from AWS.

Also unsure whether Trusted Advisor takes memory into consideration, but have heard similar feedback -- that memory is a key and desired factor in deciding how to action recommendations from any provider.
