    Hi,

    When migrating an AIX system to different (newer) hardware we have always used Recover Devices = no (in the mksysb recovery menu) as we feared to run into driver and configuration issues. Especially as Recover Devices = no is the default when restoring to different hardware.

    However, setting "Recover Devices = No" looses the IPSec devices /dev/ipsec* on the migrated system. This results in the firewall (mkfilt ...) not being available. Tested on AIX 7200-05-04-2220.

    Wouldn't it be desirable, that the restore process re-creates such pseudo-devices (not bound to hardware in any way) even with Recover Devices = no?

    Or is it save to use Recover Devices = Yes on different hardware even if this is not the default?
