We should possibly integrate different customer environments into a single on premis Instana installation

Is it possible if the different customers have the same ip addresses?

Is it possible to keep them in separate enviroments and which is the best way to implement it?

Yes indeed - this is a common use case, but your phrasing leads to more questions...

Will the CUSTOMERS be using Instana and you want to segregate THEIR usage?
If so, you likely will want to consider separate Instana environments for each customer.
Instana agents can report to multiple backends.  One such arrangement is to have all customer agents reporting to both a dedicated backend (for the customer) and a general backend (for your management of all customers)

If you are managing multiple customers and want to distinguish and manage them separately from others, that is definitely doable.

Presumably, there are distinguishing characteristics for each customer - portions of URLs, hostnames or tags, namespaces.

It is a core feature of Instana to create filters and Application Perspectives for just this sort of segregation in the UI.
A saved filter will allow selective infrastructure to be viewed.
Application Perspectives can be created that focus on a specific customer.
Once those are created, events and analytics can leverage the same filters.

Feel free to elaborate or add detail if this is not clear

    Thanks for your replay

Our problem is that we have new customers some of them have an overlap in the networks

We would like to manage the different customers but also to have the simplest solution as numbersof instana infrastructure machines and environments to manage .

Which could be the best solutions? How different machines with the same ip addresses could comunicate with a general backend?

Could you please help me to draw an architectural view?

Integrating different customer environments into a single on-premises Instana installation is possible, but it requires careful planning and implementation. It is important to consider the security and privacy concerns of each customer before integrating their environments.

If the different customers have the same IP addresses, it can create challenges in identifying and separating the data from each customer. In this case, it is important to use other identifiers such as hostnames, domain names, or other metadata to ensure the data is correctly attributed to the correct customer environment.

It is also possible to keep each customer environment separate within the same on-premises Instana installation. One way to implement this is to use tags or labels to identify and group the different customer environments. This allows you to keep the data separate while still managing and monitoring them within the same Instana installation.

Another way to keep customer environments separate is to create separate instances of Instana for each customer. This provides the highest level of separation but can be more complex and resource-intensive to manage.

Ultimately, the best way to implement and manage multiple customer environments within a single on-premises Instana installation will depend on the specific requirements and constraints of your organization and customers. It is important to carefully evaluate the options and choose the approach that best meets the needs of all stakeholders while ensuring the security and privacy of customer data.
