Hi All,

Installation of ACS Windows App Pkg English (64bit) in Windows11 hung in initial screen of prepare to Install. Any setup on PC to be adjusted.

I have had the same issue for a long time for Win10 and now for Win11. It seems to work fine on servers.

If you cancel and restart the installation 4 times, then it will work (if it behaves the same way as for me).

The first time it will hang with the message "Installing VC Runtime 2015 x86".
The second time it will hang with the message "Installing VC Runtime 2015 x64".
The third time it will hang with the message "Installing Runtime x86".
The fourth time it will hang with the message "Installing Runtime x64".
The fifth time it will work. 

These messages correspond to the last lines of file "setup.ini" [ISSetupPrerequisites].
The 2 regarding VC Runtime are new since driver version 1.1.0.28
I'd be happy if anybody knows why this happens and how to avoid it.

If it behaves the same way as for me, you just have to restart the installation 4 times, then it will work.

I cancel it again, then restart, then it hangs with message "Installing Runtime 32-bit".
I cancel it once again, then restart, then it hangs with message "Installing Runtime 64-bit".
I cancel it for the last time, then restart, and then it works.

I don't often install it on servers, but I noticed that the installation works fine on servers,  but I am not sure 100% about this.

"Installing VC Runtime 2015 xxx" is new from driver version "1.1.0.28".

I noticed that the last lines of file setup.ini for driver version "1.1.0.28" are :
[ISSetupPrerequisites]
PreReq0=VC Runtime 2015 x86.prq
PreReq1=VC Runtime 2015 x64.prq
PreReq2=Runtime 32-bit.prq
PreReq3=Runtime 64-bit.prq

Up to driver version driver version "1.1.0.27"  :
[ISSetupPrerequisites]
PreReq0=Runtime 32-bit.prq
PreReq1=Runtime 64-bit.prq

I'd be happy if somebody knows the reason for that.

I have now found out that "Installing VC Runtime 2015 x86" means that it tries to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2015.
As said I have the same issue, and I still don't know why it is hanging.
The installation program tries first to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 32 bit then 64 bit then version 2013 32 bit and at last version 2013 64 bit.

You can check if you have these installed. If not then you should be able to manually install them by running the files in folder \Image64a\ISSetupPrerequisites.

Then you can run installation of IBM ACS Windows package, where you'll have to cancel 4 times and the fifth time it will work.
