Is it preferable to set a a light server just for monitoring ?
How much space for every monitored server is suitable ?

Yes, a repository DB is necessary. It is best to use your own Innovator-C instance for this. Then the productive instance is not stressed and it remains free. The Developer Edition reaches its session limit with 3 monitored instances. Whether this is okay from a licensing point of view is debatable. Unfortunately, IBM has not yet commented on how a repository server only for InformixHQ is to be evaluated license-wise.
In my configuration (one monitored HDR pair) - I need about 4GB storage for the repository.

The repository is a normal Informix instance. Only the database needs to be created. InformixHQ creates the tables itself.

My database runs fine with buffered log and DB_LOCALE en_us.819

We recommend reducing sensor frequency to 5 minutes. With the default retention of 30 days, your database will then only need around 100MB per HQ agent.
