  • 1.  Implementing VSAM RLS for IBM's Cloud Tape Connector

    Posted 17 hours ago

    Hello,

I am curious to know if anyone has implemented VSAM RLS sysplex wide in order for IBM's Cloud Tape Connector to work?  We currently do have VSAM RLS enabled.  In the setup of RLS, I have found that I get SMSVSAM stc abends in our DR (Test) environment.  What I curious to know is, do the SHCDS datasets need to be on "STAND ALONE" disk?  We have two sysplexes, where each sysplex has two CF's.  We have a production environment and a DR environment.  We are synchronously repicating data from prod to DR site.  We can bring up the DR environment on "sandboxed refreshed copy" of production disk for testing.  The SMSVSAM stc doesn't seem to like the SHCDS datasets that are replicated between sites.  Any help on configuration here would be helpful?

There are procedures to recover open VSAM/RLS datasets in D/R, dependent on how the datasets are being used.  I don't believe you can just "IPL the D/R systems off the replicated DASD" and everything will be hunky-dory.

Did you have a look at this IBM Support page about RLS and D/R?  RLS Lock Structures and Disaster Recovery
