I'm not able to upload any files into Cognos Analytics.

  • 1.  I'm not able to upload any files into Cognos Analytics.

    I'm not able to upload any files into Cognos Analytics. Not sure it it's an access problem, and if it is not sure who to contact to fix that. Any suggestions?

    Duda Bransford – ok, then you don't have the "Upload files" capability enabled for your user account and you will need to contact your Cognos System Administrator to enable "Upload files".

    How do I know who is my Cognos System Administrator? I couldn't find that in Cognos.

    Duda Bransford – some questions:

    1.    Do you see the "Upload files" button on the bottom left corner after clicking the "+" icon?

    2.    If yes to #1, do you get an error when uploading a file?

    3.    If yes to #2, what error message do you see at the top of the browser window?

    Hi,

    If you don't see it then as the previous poster says you have not been given the permission to do that by the people who run Cognos for you. The permissions are granted through roles and uploading files is a capability that you get by default through the 'Analytics User' role if nobody has configured it away from the standard settings. My guess is that you are an Analytics Viewer (you can see executed reports but not run them) and that doesn't have the permission to upload files.

    hey guys! thanks for all your help and support.. at the end it was a matter of access.. I didn't have the "upload file" feature enabled for me on the environment I was using.. I've got another link to access the correct environment and it works fine.. thank you all! =D
