  • 1.  IGI - Bulk Data Load

    Posted Tue December 01, 2020 11:42 AM
    Dear all,

from the IBM Knowledge Center I see that it is apparently possible to extend the attributes/field for managing the Bulk Data Load functionality (Bulk : Insert Users Record Track). I short, I need to massively update User attributes which are not in the standard list for "Insert Users" Tool but which are already within the table USER_ERC.

Is there any instruction/manual to do that a part from the generic statement "Extra columns can be added with user virtual attributes that are taken from external inventoried repositories"?

    Many thanks.

    Hi Andrea,

Following this thread, I would be interested to learn more on this too. I was able to bulk load users with custom attributes but they did not exist in ISIGI, this worked. However, if I do another bulk upload to update these custom attributes I get an error in the bulk upload.

A workaround that I found helpful was instead use a source and map the custom user attributes in the connector configuration (in our case we had a db that we could customize, maybe a csv feed would work)

    I hope that helped.

    Hi Jade,

thank you very much for your reply.

I do not quite understand how you were able to "extend" the template for managing Bulk Data Load.

I mean, I see that in the "Insert User" template (i.e. record track) there are only the following fields:

    • CODE
    • NAME
    • SURNAME
    • SEX
    • OU
    • USER_TYPE
    • EMAIL
    • PHONE_NUMBER
    • DN
    • FISCAL_CODE
    • DATE_OF_BIRTH
    • PLACE_OF_BIRTH
    • ADDRESS
    • CITY
    • STATE
    • COUNTRY

How can you add additional field there? Is there any "functional" way to do it? I mean can we use this tool or do we need to create a separate "custom" program to manage bulk upload?

    Many thanks, again.

    Hi Andrea,

    1. I assume at this point you already have created the Custom Attribute (e.g. ATTR14, ATTR15)
    2. Also this is already added under attribute mapping (Settings -> User Virtual Attributes -> Repository -> UserErc -> Attribute Mapping)
In the Insert+Users Template that is downloaded you can simply add a column with the custom attribute (using the label that is set in step 2), once uploaded the user is created and the custom attribute is populated. However, I noticed that modifying the user with custom attributes fails in Bulk Upload.

    Thank you,

    Jad Dizon

    Hi Jade,

thanks again for you patience and support.

I exactly did what you suggested, and the Log is also saying "operation completed" without adding error message.

But now I realized that probably the issue is coming from trying to fill in the DB field "USER_ERC - ACCOUNT_EXPIRY_DATE" which is probably not possible to update. I mean I see the bulk load is actually working well, but only with ATTR* fields, so my objective to massively upload the USER_ERC - ACCOUNT_EXPIRY_DATE for several Identities cannot be performed with IGI standard functionality.

    Regards,
    Andrea

    Hi Andrea,

I see, you could also try creating a CSV connector this way you have more flexibility in mapping the custom attributes of a user.
