  • 1.  IBM Websphere MQ V 7.1.0.9 on Windows Server 2019?

    Posted Tue June 13, 2023 09:21 AM

    Hi folks,

Does anyone know if ibm websphere mq v7.1.0.9 will install and run on windows server 2019?

Currently we have it running on Windows Server 2008R2.

It is tightly integrated with Biztalk 2010 so we cannot upgrade the MQ version.

However there is a push to move away from Server 2008 so we need to look at solutions going forward.,

See https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/system-requirements-websphere-mq-v71#Windows_tab for the levels that were tested/supported. Win2019 is not on that list.

Of course, you can always try it yourself as an experiment. Just to see if there's an obvious failure. Given the regular changes in installation requirements and technologies on Windows I suspect it won't even install cleanly. And you would never be supported in such a configuration. But certainly it's not been formally tried.

Your statement that because MQ is tightly integrated with BizTalk2010 you cannot upgrade MQ is BS.

You have to realize that you are running on a version that has been out of support for over a number of years now, and if MQ is that crucial to the business, you would have upgraded long ago to stay on a supported version.

The dependency, if there is one, would be on the level of the dot net framework used.

Have you even tried to use Biztalk2010 and MQ 9.3 on server 2019 ???. In any case you could try to use a client connection instead of a server connection...

    Enjoy
