  • 1.  IBM-SPSS / MAPINFO DATA EXCHANGE

    Posted Mon November 07, 2022 12:56 PM
Hello to all... nice to write all you today. I´ll explain my situation, i have some costumers using IBM-SPSS and Mapinfo Professional in the same company or organization... MapInfo is a G.I.S. Geographic Information System for B´LI Business and Location Intelligence. I was wonder... There could be a way, software or program to  do a data exchange between both programs?

For example i know SPSS save in .sav but SPSS can save in other extentions, Mapinfo needs two aditional columns to open eny table, those columns are the Long and Lat. Someone knows something about this?... or some "trick" to share info or files between both systems?

    Thanks to all....

    Regards

Hi. I'm not sure I understand what the exact issue is.

SPSS can save data out (and/or read it in) in text format. If a given dataset contains variables used for longitude and latitude, then users can save those to whatever file they want, using whatever variable names they want or need (for example, if "Long" and "Lat" are required variable names in MapInfo, then they can be saved by SPSS to a text file with those names).

Yes, I think text import and export is going to be the answer.
