    IBM has today unveiled a novel approach for migrating an IBM i LPAR to another location that can be within the same server, data center, or remote location such as IBM Power Virtual Server on IBM Cloud ensuring continuous availability throughout the process. This represents one of the most effective migration solutions offered by IBM.

    The Migrate While Active feature is specifically designed for scenarios where physical tape cannot be utilized for a conventional D-Mode IPL and restore. It facilitates saving to optical media, thereby enabling a D-mode network installation.

    This feature is supported on IBM i versions 7.4 and 7.5.
