Maybe this was never discussed but you can turn it off for the desktop settings -> Layout tab -> bottom of the page:


My interpretation of the concern was that you wanted the checkboxes but also retain the row focus of the cursor click, which is not possible.

After enabling check box to the content list grid, the row is not getting selected on clicking any columns (like it used to work before). User can select the row only using check box which seems to be accessibility issue. Any solution to resolve this issue ?
