We are excited to introduce IBM Content Assistant Client Managed Software 1.0.1, which now allows clients licensed for CP4BA to use generative AI capabilities while keeping data on premises.
Availability date: 11 December 2025
Overview
IBM Content Assistant Client Managed Software 1.0.1 is a client-managed capability for clients using CP4BA containers and has the same generative AI capabilities as IBM Content Assistant, while ensuring that clients can keep their data on premises. It revolutionizes the way enterprises discover key insights and information by allowing users to generate tailored summaries of lengthy documents and ask natural language questions across a single document, a collection of documents, or even their entire content repository. With Content Assistant Client Managed Software, clients can reduce the time they spend searching for or reading documents, enabling faster, more confident decision-making and higher productivity.
Key capabilities include:
- Natural language Q&A.
- Tailored document summaries that can be saved as metadata.
- Comparisons across documents or between versions.
Security is maintained by adhering to FileNet Content Manager's enterprise-grade security model and access controls that ensure sensitive content remains protected and prevent data leakage. Users can also inspect which documents were used to generate responses for built-in traceability, and all questions and answers can be saved for auditability.
Content Assistant Client Managed Software maximizes flexibility for clients with the ability to be deployed wherever FileNet Content Manager is deployed, including in custom applications. Clients also have flexibility with their AI hosting location, with the choice between deploying IBM watsonx.ai as SaaS, on either IBM Cloud or Amazon Web Services ( AWS), or managing it themselves.
IBM Content Assistant 1.0.1 is delivered as a container, operator, and scripts which are integrated and fully compatible with the following CP4BA versions, providing the ability for CP4BA customers on any of these release levels to add IBM Content Assistant and immediately begin leveraging generative AI capabilities with their FileNet Content Manager system:
- CP4BA 23.0.2 (FNCM 5.5.12)
- CP4BA 24.0.0 / 24.0.1 (FNCM 5.6.0)
- CP4BA 25.0.0 / 25.0.1 (FNCM 5.7.0)
Note: Content Assistant Client Managed Software requires a license for one of the following programs:
- IBM watsonx.ai (5900-BJ0)
- IBM watsonx.ai Runtime as a Service (5727-W78)
Clients are also responsible for providing their own OpenSearch for their vector database.
