I bought SPSS V 26.0 today (GradPack Premium). I am using a MacBook bought in Oct 2020 running on OS Catalina 10.15.7 . I was running a linear regression and received the message "The SPSS Statistics Processor is terminating due to a catastrophic error. Any working data file is lost. A program error has occurred: Attempt to free unallocated memory. Please note the circumstances under which this occurred, attempting to replicate it if possible, and then notify Technical Support." My dataset is large, but I haven't had problems before doing the exact same analysis, with the same sample size, and the same number of variables with my 2012 MacBook (which I was using before) other than it being very slow. ALSO I am unable to access any files on my desktop/document/downloads, etc. I have read this forum and have not seen any working problems to these issues.

How are you opening the program?  

Are you using the launch icon on the start menu?  

Are you double clicking a file associated with Statistics (.SAV, .SPV, .SPS, etc)?
