They want to shut down EC2 instances at night to save on AWS usage.  However, when they shut down the EC2 instance, a new instance is created by the AWS AutoScalling feature.  How to disable the AWS AutoScalling feature temporarily?

There are two ways to shut down EC2 instances in such a scenario. The first one is to put the EC2 instance that is in the InService state into the Standby state. Then, we may shut down the instance. Here is more information on "Temporarily Removing Instances from Your Auto Scaling Group":
