  • 1.  How to reset filter in data table

    Posted Thu April 11, 2019 11:01 AM

    Hi,

I noticed that if I'm looking at a data preview (i.e. on a table in studio), I can get presented with a number of columns which require horizontal scrolling to get to.

If I need to scroll and then apply a filter to one of those columns but end up getting no results back (for example, I want to double check a column hasn't got any blanks), the scroll bar disappears.

This means that I can't get back to field to remove the filter.

Is this a product issue or is there a way that I'm missing to allow me to reset all filters? - even if I click to another table and go back the filter is still applied and no scroll bar is appearing.

    Thanks

    Mike

@Mike Turner, if I understand your question correctly, do you mean you just want to know how to cancel the filter?

You can either hit the 'Esc' key or click on the little 'x' next to the filter section and that should clear the filter and then return the scroll bar on the right for you. Yes, it is a feature of R12 to remember what you filtered on the tables you previewed.

    Hi Tony,

    Many thanks for your response.

The Esc key works, however the tip to click the little x next to the filter section doesn't, since the scroll bar disappears in the case when you have no data.

For example, if I scroll to the right and typed in a 0 to this Asset Count column...

It ends up taking me to a screen like this where the scroll bar has completely disappeared and I can't get to the column to click that x.

However, clicking esc does seem to clear it even without the scroll bar appearing

    Hi Mike,

If you put the cursor in one of the column filters, you can "tab" over to the column.  It's very finicky!

Ah ok, got it. Tabbing across also gives a workaround to the missing scroll bar.  Thanks Joshua.
