  • 1.  How to manually trigger a scheduled report in Cognos Analytics

    Hi, is it possible for me to manually trigger a scheduled report in Cognos Analytics? The report's output that was sent via email to us (via the schedule) was incorrect and I'd like to re-execute the schedule on that report. Please let me know if this is possible, thanks.

    Hi Melody,

    who scheduled the report? If it was you: go to your schedules, select "Schedule" in the upper left corner and click "Run once":

    If the report was not scheduled by you, then the schdule owner can process the same steps. If it was done by a technical user then a Cognos admin can do the same steps via Manage->Activities.

    Thanks Robert, appreciate the info! I'm retiring in early October so while I initially scheduled that report, the report and the schedule's credentials are now assigned to a different person. Understand the process you documented above, thanks again!

    Don't know your version of Cognos - But can you go to Administration Console -> Status -> Schedules -> find the schedule you want -> click the Properties blue arrow -> select Run Once

    Hello Melody,

    Run your Cognos Report in the Background and Email It

    1. Navigate to the report

    • Navigate the report in Cognos Analytics.
    • Click the ellipsis (⋮).

    2. Choose "Run as"

    • Then select "Run in background" from the menu.
    • This opens the run options dialog.

    3. Set Output Format

    • Choose the desired output format (e.g., PDF, Excel, CSV).

     4. Set Delivery Method

    • Expand the Delivery section.
    • Choose "Send the report by email".
    • Fill in:
      • To: recipient email address(es)
      • Subject: email subject line
      • Body: optional message
      • Include a link or attachment: choose whether to attach the report or send a link

    5. Select Run
