  • 1.  How to I resolve specific symptom number 18?

    I have downloaded and authorized SPSS v26 with a valid licensing code but it still will not work.

    The error message is all about the license file and the licenses therein:

    • Does the license file exist (e.g. 'C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\Statistics\26\lservrc')
    • Does it contain one (1) and only one (1) license string (best for testing).
    • Is that license string valid? -- You can use the 'lsdecode.exe' command line tool to see the details of what's inside your 'lservrc' license file. Compare the lock code found with 'lsdecode.exe' to that found using the 'echoid.exe' command line tool. If they don't match, that's trouble.
    • Does your executing user have the correct privileges to 'see' this license file and read its contents?
