You're right - there is a defect for that functionality on 2.1.17, thank you for the feedback.
The fix will be in PAoC 2.1.19.

Subject: How to get into "Edit Mode" after using the new code search functionality in a workbench.
Hi Svetlana,
It's the opposite problem I am raising. Once you get the object open, as in your screen shot, there does not seem to be anyway to get out of searching and stepping through repeat occurrences of your search string.
The Find cell in the search dialogue is holding the focus and there doesn't seem to any manipulations you can make to get to the point where you edit the TI.
In your example above try and change line 8 to read "I=2;"
In my environment, Production PAoC in the euro zone running 2.1.17 this doesn't seem to be possible.

Hi Steven,
As I search for a string in processes in my PAoC and opening the object from the return set, I could see the continue search and edit options at the bottom of the screen in active edit mode:

If you'd like to call that section on the bottom - you'd need to place the cursor on the object body, then Ctrl+F or Cmd+F.
We'd be improving that functionality later this year to make it easy to loop and see counts of occurences.
Best regards,
